Attention, service management community: AXELOS/PeopleCert, the rights holder, has officially announced that all ITIL v3 exams will be phased out this year. This marks the well-deserved retirement of ITIL v3, which will be completely replaced by the already released and proven ITIL 4. Here’s an overview of all the details.
The fact that ITIL v3 is being phased out means that, as of the respective effective date, there will be no training or exams for this version. If you are still earning credits under the ITIL v3 certification scheme, this means you need to take immediate action!
All training initiatives based on ITIL v3 must be completed by the end of 2022, as the German exams have been discontinued as of the following dates:
- ITIL v3 Foundation (German): August 1, 2022
- ITIL v3 Intermediate Certifications (German), including Practitioner and MALC: January 1, 2023
- ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition Exam (German): January 1, 2023
Many of the English-language exams were discontinued as of January 1, 2022; only the English-language ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition exam will remain available until July 1, 2022.
With the discontinuation of the Intermediate training courses, the opportunity to earn enough points to participate in the ITIL 4 Managing Professional Transition Training will also be limited. This is because the Transition exam will no longer be offered as of January 1, 2023. Are you planning to advance to the ITIL 4 Managing Professional level via the Transition course? If so, you’ll need to earn the necessary points well in advance so you can attend the Transition course and take the exam in 2022.
