Every year... our friend Noèl Funke sets out with his charity organization Hackers4Good e.V. embarks on a very special mission: a journey to snow-covered Finnish Lapland, to the place that embodies pure magic for children around the world—the home of Santa Claus himself. Nestled amid meters of snow and sparkling northern lights lies Santa’s village, a magical place that comes alive every year during the Christmas season.
Noèl and his team from Hackers4Good e.V. are undertaking this long journey to do something that is invaluable to many of the children they support: They pick up Christmas greetings and gifts directly from Santa Claus, which they then deliver to children with life-limiting illnesses who are being cared for in hospices throughout Germany. These children, who often live with incurable illnesses, spend a large part of their time in hospice care, and for them and their families, the Christmas season is a particularly difficult time, full of emotions and challenges. Noèl and his team place special importance on ensuring that siblings also write wish lists and that these wishes are fulfilled.
We at SERVIEW have decided to actively support this wonderful initiative and work together to ensure that as many children as possible in the hospices receive a gift from Santa Claus and a very personal greeting.

Over 700 gifts for the children
Hackers4Good e.V. adds a real Santa Claus stamp and a personal message to over 700 lovingly selected and carefully wrapped gifts. But it’s not just the gift itself—it’s the magic that surrounds it: the thought that Santa Claus, who for many is the very embodiment of hope and joy, has been thinking of them. These letters not only bring a smile to the children’s faces but also a deep sense of warmth and comfort to their hearts and those of their families.
For many of these children and their families, the Christmas season is a time of challenges and pain. Yet during these special moments, they manage to set their worries aside for a moment and make room for something wonderful—hope, joy, and the feeling that they are not alone.
The work of Hackers4Good e.V. is invaluable.
It is these small gestures that bring light into families’ lives during difficult times.
Every kilometer that Noél and his team travel on this long journey is worth it to make such precious moments of joy, happiness, and hope possible.

What is a children's hospice?
A children’s hospice is a specialized facility that supports critically ill children and their families as they navigate this difficult journey. Contrary to what many people might assume, a hospice is not just about providing end-of-life care. Rather, its focus is on providing holistic care for children suffering from incurable, life-shortening illnesses, as well as supporting their families during this difficult time.
The Role of a Children's Hospice
A children’s hospice offers not only medical care but also emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual support. It creates a safe space where children and their families can experience as high a quality of life as possible despite the serious illness. At a children’s hospice, the child’s remaining time is purposefully structured around love, care, and moments of happiness. This is achieved through a combination of nursing care, therapeutic services, and recreational activities.
A key part of a children’s hospice’s work is to provide relief to parents and siblings, who often reach their own limits while caring for and tending to their sick child. Short-term stays at the hospice allow families to take a break from the exhausting caregiving and regain their strength. Siblings are also cared for during these stays and are given the opportunity to talk about their feelings and fears.
Care at the Children's Hospice
Care at a children’s hospice is provided by an interdisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and chaplains. Each of these professionals helps provide the best possible care and support, tailored to the individual needs of the child and his or her family.
In a children's hospice, the focus is not on prolonging life at any cost, but on relieving pain and symptoms and creating an environment characterized by love, dignity, and acceptance. The children should be able to live as pain-free as possible in an atmosphere of trust and security.
A place of life, not of death
Although the term “hospice” is often associated with the end of life, a children’s hospice is much more a place of life. The focus here is on making the time that remains as beautiful and fulfilling as possible—with laughter, play, and the conscious experience of moments both big and small. Even though time is limited, the memories created here are invaluable to the families.
Support for Families
A children’s hospice continues to offer support even after a child’s death. Grief counseling for parents and siblings is an important part of hospice care. Here, families are helped to cope with their loss, and they are given the space and time they need to grieve. The hospice often remains an important source of support for families long after the child’s death, providing them with support and understanding.
