An Overview of SERVIEW Training Technologies

General requirements and recommendations to ensure that your participation is the best experience possible:

  • You need a stable Internet connection that is not overly restricted.
If possible, connect from outside a corporate network and with the VPN tunnel disabled, as this can cause the training application to malfunction or prevent you from joining a training session. If you are unsure whether any of the technical platforms listed below are compatible with your computer or internet connection, and you are using a company computer, please check with your IT department.

  • Participate via a PC at
. All solutions are also accessible to some extent via smartphones and tablets. However, we strongly advise against using these devices, as their screen sizes are not suitable for participation.

  • You may optionally need a webcam
. If your computer has a webcam, you are welcome to turn it on so that the instructor and the other course participants can see your video feed. If you use the webcam at the same time as a microphone, the video transmission may interfere with the audio quality. In this case, we recommend that you turn off your camera. You will still be able to see the instructor’s video feed and, if applicable, those of the other participants.

  • You will need a microphone:
. We recommend using a headset with a microphone. Of course, you can also participate using your laptop’s built-in microphone, webcam, or other hands-free devices; however, we do not recommend this, as these solutions tend to produce unwanted background noise. If this happens, you can remedy the situation by muting yourself and unmuting only when you want to speak.
CISCO Webex and GoToTraining also offer the option to dial in via phone.
You dial a German landline number (not a premium rate number) and will be connected to the conference. You’ll be charged the standard rate for a landline call. If you have a phone plan with a landline flat rate, there may be no additional charges. Please connect a headset to your phone if possible.

  • We recommend using two monitors
If possible, we recommend using two monitors. An external monitor connected to your laptop or a separate tablet is very useful for keeping a better view of both the instructor’s presentation and the course materials.

  • Find a quiet room where you can enjoy the discussions and visualizations in peace.

  • A Note on Data Protection
Please be advised that the solutions we use are cloud-based. The data entered when logging in (name, email address) as well as the information exchanged during the training session are transmitted via the IT systems of the respective companies and, in some cases, temporarily stored there. Please note that recording or live-streaming the live online training sessions constitutes a violation of the general right of privacy (Art. 2, para. 1 in conjunction with Art. 1, para. 1 of the German Basic Law [GG]) and is prohibited for this reason as well as for data protection reasons.

Please also take the opportunity to test Webex well in advance of the course start date. Note: Please do not click the "Join via browser" link; instead, wait until the window with the test meeting opens!

The Webex test allows you to determine whether your browser and other system specifications are suitable for hosting a Webex meeting.

  • Are you able to connect to the test environment?
  • In the Audio menu, check the audio connection. Is it working?
  • If you'd like, please test the video function as well. Can you see your image?

If everything goes well for you, then you'll be fully prepared for an online training session via Webex.

Unfortunately, Microsoft does not offer a way to perform a system test in advance. If your company already uses Microsoft Teams, you have already participated in a video conference, and participating in Teams meetings outside your company is not prohibited, there is generally nothing preventing you from participating! If in doubt, please contact your IT department; they will certainly be able to help.
