ITIL 5 Transition (Bridge) Training and Certification

In the ITIL Version 5 Transition training course, you will learn how ITIL Version 5 differs from earlier versions in terms of structure and content, and how your existing ITIL knowledge can be consistently transferred to the new model. The focus is on understanding ITIL Version 5 as a holistic management approach and applying it with confidence.

You’ll gain a clear overview of the key new features in ITIL Version 5, including the unified Digital Product & Service Lifecycle, the stronger focus on customer and employee experience, and the AI-native approach that runs through all ITIL modules. You’ll learn how these elements are interlinked and what impact they have on management, governance, and implementation.

A key component of the training is understanding the ITIL Value System in the context of Version 5. You will learn how value streams, governance, practices, and continuous improvement interact, and how ITIL Version 5 is applied in an integrated rather than fragmented manner.

In addition, you’ll learn how roles, responsibilities, and outcomes are more clearly defined in ITIL Version 5 and how this simplifies practical implementation. The training will help you contextualize familiar concepts from ITIL 4, think them through further, and adapt them to the current needs of modern organizations.

Upon completion of the Transition training, you will be able to confidently interpret ITIL Version 5, build on your existing knowledge in a targeted manner, and consistently apply ITIL Version 5 across operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

The ITIL Version 5 Transition training course is intentionally designed to be concise and is aimed at experienced ITIL professionals. It is not intended to replace a comprehensive foundational training course, but rather builds specifically on existing knowledge. Accordingly, the focus is not on review, but on contextualizing, updating, and understanding the new features of ITIL Version 5.

The training course needs to be completed only once. The certificate earned is then valid for all relevant ITIL Version 5 designations that require a transition. It is not necessary to take the course multiple times or repeat it.

The transition combines strategic, tactical, and operational aspects of ITIL Version 5 and helps ensure that the framework is applied consistently and uniformly. Especially for organizations with multiple ITIL-certified roles, it fosters a shared understanding and ensures a clear alignment with the new model.

Participants will benefit most if they already have practical experience with ITIL. The training provides opportunities for sharing ideas, addressing their own questions, and discussing real-world application scenarios.

It is also important to note that the content of the ITIL 4 Practice Manager certification has remained unchanged. Holders of this certification do not need bridge training. For all other relevant certifications, however, the Transition is the official and recommended path to ITIL Version 5.

The ITIL Version 5 Transition training is designed for experienced ITIL professionals who already hold a certification from earlier ITIL versions and wish to update their knowledge to ITIL Version 5. It is particularly aimed at holders of an ITIL v3 Expert, ITIL 4 Managing Professional, or ITIL 4 Master certification who want to bring their existing certification up to date. This training is not an introductory course, but rather a targeted transition program for certified specialists and managers who wish to apply ITIL Version 5 consistently, effectively, and in a timely manner within their organization.

The ITIL Version 5 Transition training is intended exclusively for participants who already hold ITIL certification. To participate, you must have completed one of the following certifications:

• ITIL v3 Expert
• ITIL 4 Master
